Maria Sakkari qualified for the semifinals of the WTA 500 Qatar TotalEnergies Open tennis tournament in Doha with a prize fund of 780,000 USD. The fifth-seeded Greek player dramatically defeated the third-seeded Caroline Garcia (France) by 2-1 (6:2, 6:7, 7:6).

Maria Sakkari scored two breaks in the first half to lead the scoring. The French opponent returned to the match after an even tiebreak and finally won by 7-5 points.

Maria Sakkari withstood the pressure in the decisive set and congratulated herself on ultimate success in the match after playing a new tiebreak and winning by 7-5.

In the semi-finals, she will face the second-seeded American Jessica Pegula, who eliminated the Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia by 2-0 (6:3, 6:2).

Veronika Kudermetova defeated the 2022 Roland Garros finalist Cori Coco Gauff (USA) by 2-1 (6:2, 3:6, 6:1) and also qualified for the semifinals. In the next round, the Russian will face top-seeded Iga Swiatek, who won the title last season.
