World and Olympic 400m hurdles medalist and European champion in the event, Femke Bol, started the indoor season in a magnificent way. The Dutch female athlete ran the 500m competitively for the first time in her career and broke her 17-year-old indoor record after winning the World Athletics Tour with a gold label in Boston in 1:05.63 min.
The previous top time in the women’s event was 1:06.31 min from 2006.
“I’m just super happy. No, I don’t plan to run more than 500 meters. Now I’m going back to the 400m before the European Indoor Championships”, said Femke Bol after the victory.
Femke Bol is a Dutch track and field athlete who specializes in the 400m hurdles and 40m. She is the Tokyo 2020 Olympics bronze medallist in the 400m hurdles with the current European record of 52.03 sec, becoming the third-fastest woman of all time and the first Dutch Olympic medallist at the event
In another unconventional event, Olympic 200m bronze medalist Gabby Thomas won the 300m in 36.31 sec. The Polish athlete Anna Kielbasinska finished second with 36.41 sec.
