Ragnhild Mowinckel super-giant win

The Norwegian skier Ragnhild Mowinckel won her third Alpine World Cup victory after triumphing in the super-giant slalom in Cortina d’Ampezzo (Italy). For her, this is the first success of the campaign, and her last victory was in Courchevel (France) at the end of last season.

The downhill and giant slalom silver medalist from the PyeongChang 2018 Olympics had a very good downhill today, avoiding the big mistakes. Thus, with a time of 1:23.22 min, she beat Austrian Cornelia Hutter by 0.30 sec. The third in today’s race was Marta Bassino, who was 0.47 slower than Ragnhild Mowinckel.

World and Olympic super-G slalom champion Lara Gut-Behrami (Switzerland) finished just 0.03 sec off the podium at the Olimpia delle Tofane course, where she won the world title two years ago.

The leader in the general ranking for the World Cup Mikaela Shiffrin (USA) today finished seventh, adding 36 new points to her asset. Thus, it swelled to 1317 points, and her lead over the second-ranked Petra Vlhova (Slovakia) is 521 points. Third in the standings in Lara Gut-Behrami, who is 536 points behind the leader.

In the battle for the small crystal globe in the super giant slalom, with today’s victory, Ragnhild Mowinckel came out on top with an asset of 272 points and an advance of 30 points over Lara Gut-Behrami. The Italian Federica Brignone, who was only 11th today, is third with 39 points behind the leader.

The Women’s Alpine Skiing World Cup continues on Tuesday with the first of two consecutive giant slaloms in Kronplatz, Italy.
