Polish 60m record holder Ewa Swoboda confirmed participation at the Orlen Cup Lodz, which starts on February 4. She is one of the top athlete last years and will try to capture the gold at her homeeland.
Last year, Ewa Swoboda first clocked 7.04 sec in the heats of the tournament and ran 7.00 sec in the final.
She will face world silver medalist Marie-Josee Ta Lou, who last year set an African 100m record of 10.72 sec.
Ewa Swoboda is a Polish track and field sprinter who specializes in the short sprints. She is a two-time European indoor championship medallist in the 60m, having won a gold medal in 2019 and a silver in 2017. The 17-year-old was a finalist in the 60m in her senior debut at the 2015 European Indoor Championships. Still 17, she became the 2015 European junior champion over the 100m to take a silver medal at the 2016 World Junior Championships. She twice won the event at the European U23 Championships (2017, 2019). Swoboda holds the world junior record of 7.07 sec and the Polish national record of 6.99 sec in the 60m. She is a multiple medallist of Polish outdoor and indoor championships.
Polish hurdler Pia Skrzyszowska will also take part from the Orlen Cup Lodz, competing in 60m hurdles.
