The two big stars of the USA in the women’s pole vault, Katie Nageotte and Sandi Morris, will compete at the Millrose Games in New York on February 11. The two are not only training partners and friends, but also the best athletes in the discipline in the world right now.
Katie Nageotte won Olympic gold in Tokyo 2020 and became world champion in Oregon this summer, beating Sandi Morris.
Sandi Morris, who has three outdoor world silver medals and a silver at the Rio 2016 Olympics, has won the last two indoor world titles – Birmingham 2018 and Belgrade 2022.
With personal bests of 5.00m outdoors and 4.95m indoors, Sandi Morris is third in both all-time world rankings, with Katie Nageotte fourth outdoors at 4.95m and fifth indoors at 4.94m. In 2020, Sandi Morris decided to change coaches and joined Katie Nageotte under American men’s record holder Brad Walker.
