Nelly Korda made a fantastic late rally to win the trophy at the LPGA Pelican Women’s Championship in the USA. After missing most of the season due to a blood clot that required surgery earlier this year, she climbed to the world’s number one again.
Nelly Korda was locked in a battle with Lexi Thompson along the back nine, but pulled ahead with birdies on the 16th and 17th hole and held on for a 6-under 64 for a one-shot victory, finishing with total 14-under. Lexi Thompson was second with just a shot behind with -13, while third was Allisen Corpuz -11. On the fourth place was Hannah Green (Australia) and fifth was Gaby Lopez (Mexico)
“Honestly, amazing. It’s been a tough year. I missed two cuts in Arkansas and Dallas, but I kept my head high and worked really hard. It feels really good to be on top”, said Nelly Korda after the victory.
The 24-year-old American golfer Nelly Korda now has eight career LPGA titles and 7,455,977 USD in her career. She also won the LET event in Spain earlier this season.
