Keely Hodgkinson is ready to run again at the World Athletics Tour Final in Birmingham on February 25, 2023. This is the place where she clocked 1:57.20 in the 800m this season.
The 20-year-old Olympic and world silver medalist broke the British indoor record with this performance at this year’s competition in Birmingham, setting the fastest indoor time for 20 years. It’s a result that puts her sixth on the all-time world indoor rankings.
“The Indoor Grand Prix earlier this year was an amazing experience as it was one of the first with a large crowd since the pandemic. Without a doubt, the atmosphere with this amazing crowd played a big part in helping me run fast and I can’t wait to feel that support again”, said Keely Hodgkinson. “I have high expectations for what I want to achieve in 2023 and I know that a strong start with a great indoor season will really get things going”, added she.
The World Athletics Tour Final in Birmingham will be the last of seven indoor events in 2023. The season begins in Karlsruhe on January 27, followed by events in Boston, Torun, New York, Lieven and Madrid.
