The Belgium figure skater Leona Hendricks celebrated her 23rd birthday with a title after winning women’s gold at the Figure Skating Grand Prix Series in Angers, France. She won her country’s first-ever Grand Prix title, but it was her second medal after a silver a year ago in Italy.
The Belgium figure skater landed six triple jumps in her free program and received a season-high 143.59 points to collect a total of 216.34. She beat her rivals by more than 20 points. Kim Ye-lim from the Republic of Korea is second so far with 194.76 points, and the third position was taken by Japan’s Rion Sumiyoshi with 194.34 points.
Two-time European bronze medalists Charlene Guignard and Marco Fabbri of Italy took the gold in the pairs dance with 207.95 points. Canadians Laurence Fournier Beaudry and Nikolaj Sorensen with 201.93 points and Evgeniia Lopareva and Geoffrey Brissaud from France are in second and third place, respectively, with 187.15 points.
In sports pairs, the champions are Deanna Stellato-Dudek and Maxime Deschamps (Canada) with 185.84 points.
The next tournament is the British Grand Prix from November 11 to 13.
