World number one Iga Swiatek (Poland) has made an impressive start to the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) top-eight Finals in Fort Worth.
Iga Swiatek won her first match of the group against the Russian Daria Kasatkina with 2-0 (6:2, 6:3) in 82 minutes.
The 21-year-old Polish tennis player had a strong match, not allowing a break from her opponent. She led by 3:0 in both sets and on her first serve won 31 of 38 points to record her fifth win in five matches against Daria Kasatkina.
“I started strong and that gave me extra confidence. But on the other hand against Dasha you always have to be careful and patient. I wanted to play solid and put her under pressure. I think I did pretty well and I’m happy with that”, said Iga Swiatek.
Iga Swiatek has already won eight titles this season, including two Grand Slams at the French Open and the US Open.
