The Egyptian tennis player Mayar Sherif defeated the American Lauren Davis by 2-0 (7:6, 6:3) to qualify for the semi-finals of the WTA 250 Parma Ladies Open. The match lasted 1:49 hours and brought a lot of emotions to the fans.
Both players exchanged a break in the first set, which turned to tiebreak won by Mayar Sherif by 7-2. The second set started with an early break for the Egyptian tennis player, who took a lead by 3:0. Her opponent did not retreat and returned the break and served for equalizing the score, but Mayar Sherif took a break lead again and finally won the set and the match.
In the semi-finals, Mayar Sherif will face the winner between the 6th-seeded Ana Bogdan and 3rd-seeded Irina-Camelia Begu.
In the other quarter-final, Danka Kovinic defeated Jasmine Paolini by 2-0 (6:4, 6:4) and also qualified for the semi-finals.
