The second-seeded Ekaterina Alexandrova qualified for the second round of the WTA 250 Korea Open after defeating the American Asia Muhammad by 2-1 (6:1, 3:6, 6:1) in 1:36 hours.
The match started perfectly for the Russian player, who won easily the first set after three breaks of her opponent’s serve. The second set, however, was totally different after Asia Muhammad succeeded to break her in the fourth game. She took a lead and finally won the set.
In the third set, Ekaterina Alexandrova again took the match under control and registered 3 breaks to win by 6:1.
In the second round, Ekaterina Alexandrova will face the Na-Lae Han who defeated Dayeon Back by 2-0 (6:1, 6:1).
The French tennis player Kristina Mladenovic also qualified for the second round after defeating Sohyun Park by 2-1 (6:4, 4:6, 6:3).
The 8th-seeded Canadian Rebecca Marino did not have any problem in the first round and eliminated Jana Fett by 2-0 (6:1, 6:2). In the next round, she will face Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva (Romania) who defeated Chloe Paquet (France) by 2-0 (6:2. 6:2).
Anastasia Gasanova (Russia) defeated Astra Sharma (Australia) by 2-0 (7:5, 7:5) to advance to the second round, where will face the winner between the top-seeded Jelena Ostapenko and the wild-card Boyoung Jeong.
