Eilish McColgan is a Scottish middle- and long-distance runner, who is the 2022 Commonwealth Games 10,000m champion and 5,000m silver medallist. She holds the European record in the 10 km road race and British records for the 5,000m and half marathon.
Eilish McColgan was born on November 25, 1990, in Dundee, Scotland. She started in athletics from an early age and developed her talent in long-distance running.
Eilish McColgan is a four-time European Championships medallist, winning silver medals for the 5,000m in 2018 and 10,000m in 2022, bronze in the 5,000m in 2022, and a bronze for the indoor 3,000ms in 2017.
Eilish McColgan represented Great Britain at the London 2012 Olympics, Rio 2016 Olympics, and Tokyo 2020 Olympics. She represented Scotland at Commonwealth Games in 2014 in Glasgow, in 2018 in Gold Coast in addition to the 2022 Games in Birmingham. She is the Scottish record holder in the event she originally specialized in, the 3,000m steeplechase, from 2013 before injury forced her to move away from steeplechase. She holds the Scottish record in 10,000m.
