This winter’s world indoor high jump champion Yaroslava Mahuchikh bettered her outdoor personal best after winning the Diamond League in Brussels yesterday with 2.05m. She also attacked Stefka Kostadinova’s world record of 2.09 m, after setting the bar at 2.10 m.
“It’s so great that I jumped my personal best because my previous record of 2.04m was from 2019, so that’s a lot of time to improve my jump. Tried 2.10m today but so far that’s too high. For a long time, no one has even attempted this height, so I feel very good. My agent said I could jump higher than 2.10m, so maybe if all the conditions are right. The next competition is in Zurich, my last start of the season”, said Yaroslava Mahuchikh. “The diamond leagues have been tough this year, I was good at the European Championship, but just now I made a good jump. Brussels is really fantastic every year”, added the 20-year-old Ukrainian after her performance in Belgium.
Yaroslava Mahuchikh is a gold medalist from the Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympic Games, boras 2019 European U20 Championships, Tallinn 2021 European U23 Championships, Torus 2021 European Indoor Championships, Munich 2022 European Championships and Belgrade 2022 World Indoor Championships.
