The UFC bantamweight fighter Julia Avila claims that UFC salaries are great.
The 34-year-old American mixed martial artist is satisfied with the wages, but when you fight, because without fights – there is no money. Julia complains that she had 9 canceled fights in one year, which left her penniless. She had to start working to support herself and have insurance because she was pregnant.
There has been talk of health insurance in the UFC for quite some time, but no progress has been made on the subject. Dana White recently shared that there will be no pay raises while he is the head of the organization. And while many fighters complain about the money, Julia Avila is satisfied, but with the condition that you fight actively.
“Paying fighters is great but when you’re fighting. I had 9 fights canceled in one year and after my injury in 2021 I had to get a job to make ends meet and have insurance to cover my pregnancy. I love to be part of the UFC is a dream come true. But it’s a temporary dream”, said Julia Avila. “Often times you have to choose between having a career, being in a relationship, being a mother OR following your dreams of being in the best battle chain. Even then, sometimes you just don’t feel valued as a woman because you don’t show skin. I love being in the UFC. I love to fight for the fans and put on a show. I’m just as replaceable as anyone in the UFC and the fans will be none the wiser. This is the hardest pill to swallow”, added she.
Julia Avila has a personal MMA record of 9-2-0 (W-L-D). Before the UFC, she has competed in Invicta FC, HD MMA, XKO MMA, Total Warrior Combat and King of the Cage.
