Great Britain ended in a draw 1:1 versus Canada in their last match of the group stage. Canada took the lead with a goal by Adriana Leon in the 55th minute after the assistance of Ashley Lawrence. After that, however, the British team became more active and reached an equalizing after an own goal of Nichelle Prince after a shot of Caroline Weir in the 85th minute. Thus, Great Britain took first place in its group with 7 points and continues to the quarterfinals. Canada is on second place in the Group and also continues ahead.
In the other match of the group, Japan defeated Chile with a minimum of 1:0. The hosts deservedly won this match, and they could have done it with a more convincing result. However, they scored only one goal, thanks to Mina Tanaka, who was accurate in the 77th minute. Thus, the Japanese took the third position with 4 points and will play in the next phase as one of the two best third teams. The Chileans never won a single point and left the tournament in the last place in Group E.
