Kenyan-born Kazakh athlete Norah Jeruto won the world title in the 3,000m steeplechase at the championships in Eugene, Oregon in a record-breaking final.

Norah Jeruto was confident that she would win and set off in record paces of 2:57.72 min in the 1,000m and 5:58.29 min in the 2,000m. Kazakh athlete remained in the company of only Ethiopians Werkuha Getachew and Mekides Abebe, as well as her former compatriot from Kenya, who competed for Bahrain – Winfred Mutile Yavi.

In the final 200m of the 3,000m steeplechase, there is one water and one regular obstacle and yet Norah Jeruto clocks in at 32 seconds.
