Germany’s women’s national football team beat Spain by 2-0 to book their place in the knockout stages of the European Championship in England.
The team won thanks to goals from Klara Buehl and Alexandra Popp. Spain goalkeeper Sandra Panos was at fault for the first early goal. Germany is now in a series of 7 matches without a loss against the Spanish – 4 wins and 3 draws. “La Furia” broke its amazing streak of 24 matches without defeat. Spain played without their star player Alexia Putellas, while Germany secured top spot in Group B and thus avoided a clash with hosts England in the quarter-finals.
In the earlier match, Denmark beat Finland by 1-0 with Pernille Harder scoring 20 minutes before the end of the match. The Danish players will play for second place in the group against Spain in their last match.
