Ivet Lalova-Collio has been nominated as a member of the Athletes’ Commission of the World Athletics

Ivet Lalova-Collio

Bulgarian athlete Ivet Lalova-Collio is among 12 athletes who will compete for six places in the World Athletics Commission of Athletes. All athletes accredited for the upcoming World Championships in Eugene (Oregon, USA) will have the right to vote in the elections that will take place during the championships between July 15 and 24.

Last year in Tokyo, Ivet Lalova-Collio participated in the fifth Olympics in her career. The 38-year-old sprinter became the record holder for this indicator among Bulgarian track and field athletes, after finishing in 31st place in the 200m with a personal best for the season of 23.39 seconds and was 24 hundredths of a second away from qualifying for the semi-finals.

“As the daughter of two athletes, athletics has been a part of my life since my earliest memories. I’ll never forget watching the 100m final at the World Championships in the early 90s on our black and white TV, dreaming that one day I could be there. Once I stepped on the track, I never looked back and now, 26 years later, I have so much love for this sport and so much experience”, said Ivet Lalova-Collio. “I am running for the World Athletics Commission of Athletes and I believe that all this love and experience can help other athletes and make their journey better. The voice of athletes matters and should be heard. I hope you see in the new candidates your representatives and feel that your opinion is important for the good of our sport. Good luck to all the athletes who will participate in the World Championships in Eugene, OR and don’t forget to vote! It matters! See you in Oregon”, added she.

The best Bulgarian sprinter is a member of the same commission for European Athletics.
