The women’s volleyball team of Thailand recorded a somewhat surprising second victory in the Group 2 tournament of the first week of the League of Nations. After beating Bulgaria with 3-0 in the opening match on Tuesday, today the Thai girls won dramatically over the world champion and bronze medalist from Tokyo 2020 Olympics Serbia with 3:2 (25:23, 25:27, 25:20, 20:25, 15:12) in their second match, played this afternoon in “Arena Ankara” in the Turkish capital.
This was the first loss for the Serbian team after they prevailed over Belgium with a 3:1 yesterday. Tomorrow (June 3rd), Thailand will rest, while Serbia will play against Bulgaria, who defeated the Netherlands in their second match.
Above all for Thailand was Pimpichaya Kokram with a great 32 points (52% efficiency in attack), and Chatchu-on Moksri added another 27 points (4 blocks, 50% efficiency in attack) for the victory.
For the Serbian team, Jovana Zelenović (2 blocks, 2 aces, and 33% efficiency in attack) and Maja Aleksic (6 blocks, 1 ace and 65% efficiency in attack) scored 21 and 18 points, but that did not help the success.
