Yulimar Rojas won the gold in Belgrad with a new world record in women’s triple jump

Yulimar Rojas - Maryna Bekh-Romanchuk - Kimberly Williams

Tokyo 2020 Olympic triple jump champion Yulimar Rojas sent the women’s triple jump to another dimension. The 26-year-old Venezuelan athlete won her third consecutive world indoor title with a phenomenal world record of 15.74 m. So far, she has held the world indoor record with 15.43 m since 2020. Yulimar Rojas, who is now closer to becoming the first woman in history to score more than 16.00 m in the triple jump, hinted at the start of the final in Belgrade that is ready for something big.

In her first attempt she achieved 15.19 m, in the fifth 15.36 m, and in her last appearance in the sector today the Venezuelan directly “exploded” the half-full “Stark Arena” with 15.74 m. This is the strongest achievement in history in the discipline indoors and outdoors. Yulimar Rojas also holds the world record outdoor with 15.67 m from Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

The European indoor champion in the long jump from Torun 2021 Maryna Bekh-Romanchuk (Ukraine) won the silver medal in the triple jump in her last attempt when she recorded a personal best of 14.74 m. She stayed exactly one meter behind the champion. The Ukrainian corrected with 40 cm her best result, achieved earlier in the season. In the evening session, Maryna Bekh-Romanchuk will participate in the finals in the long jump, where she is one of the favorites for the awards.

Jamaican Kimberly Williams won her third medal at the World Indoor Championships after battling for bronze with 14.62 m.

The other two medalists from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Patricia Mamona (Portugal) and Ana Peleteiro (Spain), finished sixth and eighth with 14.42 m and 14.30 m, respectively.
