Spanish figure skater Laura Barquero tested positive for doping during the Beijing 2022 Olympics, said the International Testing Agency (ITA). The 20-year-old figure skater was caught with a metabolite of the banned anabolic steroid “clostebol”. The skater is informed about the case and has the right to request an analysis of her B-sample.
In Beijing, Laura Barquero competed in the doubles with Marco Zandron, and the test was taken after a short program on February 18. The Spanish duo ranked 11th at the Winter Games in the Chinese capital.
Laura Barquero is a Spanish pair skater. With her skating partner, Marco Zandron, she is the 2021 CS Nebelhorn Trophy silver medalist and the 2021 Spanish national champion.
With her former skating partner, Ton Consul, she is the 2020 Spanish national champion and competed in the final segment at the 2020 European Championships.
