Sweden won third place in the women’s curling tournament in Beijing 2022 Olympics after a 9-7 victory over the leader in the preliminary phase Switzerland. This is the fifth consecutive Olympic medal for the Scandinavians and the second for captain Anna Hasselborg, who led her team to the title in PyeongChang 2018.
The Swedish team led 6-2 after three points in the sixth end, but in the next three Swiss Alina Paetz managed to reduce her gap to 7-6. However, Anna Hasselborg was with the last stone in the tenth end and managed to score another point, which formed the final 9-7 against the world champions.
Japan and Great Britain will play for the Olympic title on Sunday.
Anna Hasselborg is a Swedish curler who is the 2018 Olympic Champion in women’s curling, and a former World Junior Champion skip. In November 2019, she became the first curler in history to reign as the simultaneous holder of the European Curling Championship gold medal, the World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship gold medal, and the Olympic gold medal.
