Natalie Geisenberger: All Olympic titles are dear to me

Natalie Geisenberger

The title of “Greatest of All Time” often provokes fierce debates in various sports, but this is not the case in women’s lugging, where the undisputed number 1 is already five-time Olympic champion Natalie Geisenberger.

The 34-year-old German is the first to win three consecutive Olympic titles in the women’s individual luge and has cemented her place as the best of all time. She also has two more gold medals in the Sochi 2014 and PyeongChang 2018 relays, as well as a bronze in the Vancouver 2010 individual.

“It’s hard to say which Olympic medal is most important to me because each of them has its own story. My first in Vancouver was very special because it’s the first. Now I’m a three-time Olympic champion (individual), but for the first time, I won gold as a mother. It’s great”, said Natalie Geisenberger.

The coach of the German team Norbert Loch did not spare his superlatives for the champion.

“She is the greatest. She is without a doubt the Queen of Luge”, said the happy coach.

Natalie Geisenberger was the first to win five Olympic gold medals in luge, and with three consecutive individual titles, he equaled the achievement of his compatriot Georg Hackle, who won three consecutive men’s Olympic titles in the 1990s.

Natalie Geisenberger could increase the medals in his showcase on Thursday when he is the favorite for gold in the relay race.
