Italy became the first semi-finalist of the mixed doubles curling tournament at the Beijing 2022 Olympics after Stefania Constantini and Amos Mosaner won by 7:5 against world champions Bruce Mouat and Jennifer Dodds from Great Britain.
The Italians led by 4;2 in the first five ends and although the British equalized with a double in the sixth, Stefania Constantini and Amos Mosaner did not allow the first loss of the tournament. They won three points in the seventh end and the British added only one to their assets in the last for the final 7:5.
Thus, Italy leads the preliminary phase with 6-0, followed by Sweden with 7-5, Canada and Great Britain with 6-4, Norway and the United States with 6-3, and others.
Canadians Rachel Homan and John Morris made up for the morning loss against Sweden with a clear 7:2 against Americans Vicky Persinger and Chris Plys. They won three points in the seventh and eighth.
In the other matches today, Switzerland beat the Czech Republic 11:3 and Norway won by 9:6 against China.
