Slovenia’s Ursa Bogataj wins the Olympic title in the women’s ski jumping competition.

At the Normal Hill in Zhangjiakou, the 26-year-old Ursa Bogataj set a record in the first attempt with a jump of 108 meters, which brought her 118 points. This was the second result after that of the German Katharina Althaus, who took the lead after the first turn with 121.1 points in a jump of 105.5 meters, as she received higher marks for style.

In the second attempt, however, Ursa Bogataj maintained a high level in jumping and with the new 100 meters got 121 points for a total of 239. Katharina Althaus had the last word in the competition but jumped only 94 meters and with 115.7 points collected a total of 236.8, which was enough for only a silver medal. Katharina Althaus also took silver four years ago at the Olympic Games in PyeongChang 2018, where today’s champion was only 30th.

Ursa Bogataj brought Slovenia the first title at the Beijing 2022 Olympics, but she was not the only Slovene to have joy today. Nika Kriznar won the bronze medal after jumping 103 and 99.5 meters, collecting 232 points.

Slovenia scored one more player in the top 10 – Ema Klinec finished fifth with 215.4 points.

Japan’s Sara Takanashi was fourth with 224.1 points, followed by Norway’s Silje Opseth with 200.5 points.

Final ranking in the Women’s normal hill individual:
1. Ursa Bogataj (Slovenia) – 239.0 points
2. Katharina Althaus (Germany) – 236.8 points
3. Nika Kriznar (Slovenia) – 232.0 points
