Four-time world and four-time European champion Irene Schouten from the Netherlands won the gold medal at Women’s 3000m speed skating at Beijing 2022 Olympics. The 29-year-old Dutchwoman achieved success with a new Olympic record – 3:56.93 minutes. She improved the 20-year achievement of Claudia Pechstein from Salt Lake City – 3:57.70 minutes.
Second in 1.13 seconds is the Italian Francesca Lollobrigida, who is the granddaughter of the Italian film icon Gina Lolobrigida.
The bronze went to Canadian Isabelle Weidemann with 3:58.64 minutes.
The 2010 Vancouver Olympic champion and 2014 Sochi silver medalist Martina Sablikova (Czech Republic) finished fourth with 4:00.34 minutes.
The defending champion from PyeongChang 2018 Carlijn Achtereekte from the Netherlands remained seventh, 5.28 seconds behind the winner.
