The top-seeded Diana Shnaider (Russia) easily won the title of the WTA 250 Hong Kong Tennis Open with prize money of 661,000 USD after defeating the second-seeded Katie Boulter (Great Britain) by 2-0 (6:1, 6:2) in just 72 minutes.
Diana Shnaider started strongly and rallied to a 5:0 lead in the first set, and her opponent took her first service game of the third attempt, but not before reflecting a break point. Katie Boulter tried to rebreak in the next game, but the Russian was able to win with a diagonal backhand.
The second set went in a similar fashion. Diana Shnaider recorded two quick breaks for 3:0 and reached match point on Katie Boulter’s serve at 5:1, but the Briton fought back to force an eighth game. In it, the Russian lost only one point and ended the match at 6:2.
Diana Shnaider, 20, lifted the fourth title of 2024 and of her career overall. In the final in Hong Kong, she won 75% of her first serves and converted 7/11 break chances.
