Paris 2024 Olympics 200m and 4x100m and 4x400m relay champion Gabby Thomas admitted that athletics was not her first sporting love.
“I chose softball. I wanted to practice it with my friends. Athletics was not my first love. My friends had softball practice so I started too, but my mom had no idea. Mom, I want to thank you so much for turning me on to athletics. Thank you. He knew what he was doing”, said Gabby Thomas in an interview.
Gabrielle Thomas competed in college for Harvard University before beginning a professional track career in 2018. At the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, she won the bronze medal in the 200m and a silver as part of the women’s 4x100m relay. On August 25, 2023, she claimed the 200m silver medal in the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest with a time of 21.81 sec. She won gold as part of Team USA in the women’s 4x100m relay final with a championship record of 41.03 sec.
At the Paris 2024 Olympics, Gabby Thomas won three gold medals; individually in the 200m, and alongside her teammates in the 4×10 m relay and 4x400m relay, in which they ran an American record and the second-fastest time ever.
