Katie Boulter advanced to the Round of 16 pf the WTA 250 Hong Kong Tennis Open

The second-seeded Katie Boulter (Great Britain) advanced to the Round of 16 pf the WTA 250 Hong Kong Tennis Open after defeating Aoi Ito (Japan) by 2-0 (6:4, 6:4) in 1:38 hours of play.

The British tennis player made a late break in the second set and reflected the single breakpoint that her Japanese reached to win the set by 6:4. On the other hand, Aoi Ito gave 7 breakpoints to her opponent, but succeeded to save only 6 of them.

The second set started with an early break for Katie Boulter, who immediately confirmed it by winning her serve game. In the fifth game of the set, the British tennis player reached another breakpoint, but her opponent reflected it. The cornerstone of the set was the sixth game, when Katie Boulter trained 15-40 on her serve and gave two breakpoints to Aoi Ito. However, the British player succeeded to equalize to deuce and won the game, keeping her lead of 4:2. By the end of the set, none of the players reached a breakpoint and they won their service games, which was perfect for Katie Boulter, who won the match from her first match point.

In the second round of the tournament, Katie Boulter will face Xiyu Wang (China), who eliminated the American qualifier Hina Inoue after 2-0 (6:3, 7:6).

Cristina Bucsa (Spain) also qualified for the Round of 16 after defeating Hong Yi Cody Wong (Hong Kong) by 2-0 (6:3, 6:3). Nao Hibino (Japan) defeated Jia-Jing Lu (China) by 2-1 (6:7, 6:3, 7:5) and Suzan Lamens (Netherlands) won her match versus qualifier Xinyu Gao (China) by 2-0 (6:3, 6:0).
