Viktorija Golubic (Switzerland) started strongly at the WTA 250 Jiangxi Open hard court tennis tournament in Jiujiang, China. The Swiss tennis player achieved a straight-set victory versus local qualifier Xiaodi You and won by 2-0 (7:5, 6:2) in 1:41 hours of play.

Viktorija Golubic scored 73% of her first serve and won 68% of the point on her first serve and 48% on her second serve, while her opponent had 48% and 40%, respectively. Xiaodi You scored 4 aces, but also committed 2 double faults.

The match started perfectly for the Chinese tennis player, who started with a break and took a lead of 3:0. However, Viktorija Golubic won the next four games in a row and achieved two break to take the lead of 4:3. Xiaodi You returned the second break immediately and equalized the score to 4:4 and won her service game for 5:4 although saving 3 breakpoints. The Swiss tennis player took the initiative and equalized to 5:5 and then broke “on 15” to serve for the set, which she won on her first setpoint.

Viktorija Golubic started strongly the second set, breaking twice for 3:0. Both players exchanged a break for 4:1, but this proved to be enough for the Swiss to close the set at 6:2 without allowed a breakpoint to her opponent.

In the next round, Viktorija Golubic will face Jessica Bouzas Maneiro (Spain), who defeated Zarina Diyas (Kazakhstan) by 2-0 (6:4, 6:2).

In another match from the first round, Jana Fett (Croatia) lost to wildcard player Saisai Zheng (China) by 1-2 (4:6, 6:2, 4:6), while in the all-Chinese qualifiers clash Xinxin Yao defeated Fangzhou Liu by 2-0 (6:2, 6:1).
