Two-time Olympic 400m hurdles champion and world record holder in the event Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone (USA) will be chasing a 200m and 400m double at the Diamond League Finals in Brussels on September 13 and 14.
The American athlete, who set a world record in the 400m hurdles at the Paris 2024 Olympics, is expected to be one of the big attractions at the final in Brussels. This will be her first competition since the Olympics.
“The greatest female athlete of the year, who achieved a historic world record at the Paris 2024 Olympics, will compete in the 400m (Friday) and 200m (Saturday) at the Allianz Memorial Van Damme. This is her first (and only!) appearance since the Paris Olympics, so don’t miss the unique opportunity to see her in action on Friday and Saturday”, says the statement of the race organizers.
Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone has won gold in the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Olympics, as well as the 2022 World Athletics Championships. She is the first track athlete to break four world records in the same event, setting four world records during 13 months, she was the first woman to break the 52-second (June 2021) and 51-second (July 2022) barriers in the 400m hurdles.
