Croatian tennis player Donna Vekic qualified for the final match of the tennis tournament at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games. In the semi-finals, she did not face any difficulties against Anna Karolina Schmiedlova (Slovakia) and achieved success with 2-0 (6:4, 6:0).
Thus, Donna Vekic became the first finalist in the tennis tournament and will face the Qinwen Zheng (China), who eliminated in the other semi-final the world’s number one and top-seeded Iga Swiatek (Poland) by -0 (6:2, 7:5).
The 21-year-old Qinwen Zheng earned her first professional win over Iga Swiatek in their seven tour-level meetings. Relatedly, this is Chinese player’s first victory over any reigning world number one player.
Donna Vekic and Qinwen Zheng will play tomorrow at the central court for the gold medal of the Paris 2024 Olympics. Today is the bronze medal match between Iga Swiatek and Anna Karolina Schmiedlova.
