Taylor Townsend and Katerina Siniakova won the Wimbledon women’s doubles title

Taylor Townsend and Katerina Siniakova

Taylor Townsend (USA) and Katerina Siniakova (Czech Republic) defeated Gabriela Dabrowski (Canada) and Erin Routliffe (New Zealand) by 2-0 (7:6, 7-6) to win the Wimbledon Grand Slam women’s doubles title.

For Taylor Townsend, it was the first “major” title of her career, after the American lost on home soil in 2022 and last year in Paris. Katerina Siniakova already has nine doubles trophies.

“I’m glad to be on the court with Katerina. I remember my first Grand Slam final in 2022 when she beat me, so it was nice to be on her side this time. The last two weeks have been unforgettable for me and I’m glad that I finally crossed the finish line first”,” said the 28-year-old Taylor Townsend, who became a mother in 2021.

Erin Routliffe, who along with Gabriela Dabrowski won the US doubles title last year, will take solace in the WTA rankings on Monday, as she will come out on top.

“It’s the first time I’m in the final in England and I hope it won’t be the last. There is something in this tournament that makes you feel extra emotions”, said the tennis player from New Zealand.

Katerina Siniakova won her first two Wimbledon doubles titles together with her compatriot Barbora Krejcikova, who earlier in the day defeated Jasmine Paolini for the singles trophy.

“I’m proud of Barbora and I’m happy that I’m a champion too”, said Katerina Siniakova.
