World’s number one Iga Swiatek (Poland) is in a different position as she took a break after her fourth triumph at Roland Garros on June 8. The Polish tennis player has only one quarterfinal at Wimbledon, and this year she will start against Sofia Kenin (USA).
“I don’t look at the schedule and the draw. I only know the name of my opponent in the first round. That’s all. I feel good, especially after such a great tournament. I’m glad I had a little rest. I had time to train”, said Iga Swiatek.
“I’m happy that I came here earlier because there’s a big difference between the grass we have in my country and here. I think I’m gradually getting a rhythm and I can say that I feel the ball better. We certainly approached it differently this year because of the number of matches I played in the first part of the season. I probably could have included one tournament before Wimbledon, but I don’t know if I’ll be in good shape until the end of the year, so I think it was the right decision”, commented Iga Swiatek.
