Iga Swiatek won the Roland Garros women’s title for the third time in a row, defeating Jasmine Paolini (Italy) in the final by 2-0 (6:2, 6:1) in 59 minutes. This was the fourth trophy in her career from this Grand Slam tournament, which expectedly brought her great joy.
“I want to thank my team and family. I wouldn’t be here without them. They help me be at my highest level and they do that no matter what. I love this place. I come every year to Paris and again and again I play with more and more desire and motivation. This year, I was almost knocked out of the tournament in the second round, but thank you for standing behind me again”, said Iga Swiatek.
The 23-year-old Polish tennis player also showed great respect for her rival, stating that she expects them to meet again and wishing Jasmine Paolini well in the upcoming doubles final, where the Italian will also play.
“I thank everyone at home, my whole family, but especially my sister. I also thank all the Poles who came here today, as well as the French fans. I’ll see you next year, I’m sure. I wish Jazmin the best of luck in the doubles final tomorrow”, added Iga Swiatek.
