Viktoriya Tomova (Bulgaria) qualified for the second round of the WTA 250 Morocco Open in Rabat. The Bulgarian tennis player convincingly eliminated the Turkish qualifier Berfu Cengiz by 2-0 (6:2, 6:1) in a match that lasted only 58 minutes.
Berfu Cengiz won the first game of the match, but Viktoriya Tomova made a streak of five consecutive games, closing the set at 6:2. In the second set, the Bulgarian tennis player led 4:0 and only gave her opponent a game before the final 6:1.
For her victory, Viktoriya Tomova earned 30 points for the ranking. In the next round, she will face Yafan Wang (China), who eliminated her compatriot and 8th-seeded Lin Zhu after 2-1 (4:6, 6:0, 6:2).
The 4th-seeded Lucia Bronzetti (Italy) defeated Malak El Allami (Morocco) by 2-0 (6:1, 6:0), while Maria Lourdes Carle (Argentina) eliminated the 5th-seeded Arantxa Rus (Netherlands) after 2-0 (6:3, 6:3) and Mayar Sherif (Egypt) won her opening match versus Aya El Aouni (Morocco) by 2-0 (6:2, 6:1).
Martina Trevisan (Italy) also qualified for the second round of the tournament after defeating Nao Hibino (Japan) by 2-1 (7:5, 4:6, 6:3).
