The retirement of the Italian tennis player Camila Giorgi was shrouded in complete mystery until recently. The news of her retirement came on May 8th and were surprise for all tennis fans. The main theory for her withdrawal until now has been related to the drama surrounding the investigation that began in early 2023 against her for falsifying a coronavirus vaccination document. However, it turns out that the Italian tennis player has far more serious problems and is wanted by the police in her homeland for theft and fraud.
Camila Giorgi and her family have moved out of the luxury villa in Calenzano, where they have been living in after not paying rent for the past six months. In addition, upon leaving, they stole antiques with a total value of between 50,000 and 100,000 EUR.
The owner of the villa filed a complaint against Camila Giorgi after neighbors informed him about expensive carpets and other items being removed from the property. The owner notes that these are highly collectible items that, on top of everything else, have sentimental value to him.
According to unconfirmed information, Camila Giorgi and her family emigrated to the United States in an attempt to hide from the Italian authorities.
Camila Giorgi played her last match in March when she lost to the world’s number one Iga Swiatek in WTA 1000 Miami Open. The Italian tennis player has won one title on the WTA tour – in Montreal in 2021, and 6 million EUR in prize money in her career.
