Yasmine Kabbaj is a Moroccan tennis player, who made her WTA Tour main-draw debut at the 2022 Morocco Open, where she received a wildcard into the doubles draw partnering Ekaterina Kazionova. Yasmine Kabbaj won her first senior title on the ITF Circuit at the W15 Casablanca in July 2022. She is the biggest talent in Tunisian tennis and played college tennis for the Florida International University and San Diego State University women’s teams.
Yasmine Kabbaj was born on January 15, 2004, in Fez, Morocco. She started in sports as a kid and showed a great talent in tennis. In 2017, she was the runner-up at the ITF/CAT 14&U African Junior Circuit Egypt II and ITF/CAT International Invitational Tournament Tunisia. In 2018, Yasmine Kabbaj won the junior titles at the ITF/CAT African Junior Circuit Egypt 14U Leg II, ITF/CAT 14&U African Junior Circuit South Africa, and J30 Meknes \ Tournoi ITF Junior Meknes Ismailia, but also was the runner-up in Balle Mimosa Loire-Atlantique (France) and ITF/CAT Southern African Zonal Championship South Africa.
She started the 2019 season by winning J5 Cairo \ Smash Academy ITF Junior Tournament and later finished as the runner-up at the J2 Tlemcen \ ITF Junior Tlemcen.
Yasmine Kabbaj made her professional debut in 2021 at the $15,000 W15 Monastir (Tunisia), losing in the first round. The same season she attended Florida International University, where she played for the women’s tennis team and was named Conference USA Freshman of the Year and to CUSA All-Freshman Team.
In 2022, Yasmine Kabbaj won her first ITF title, triumphing at the $15,000 W15 Casablanca (Morocco). She also made her WTA Tour main-draw debut at the 2022 Morocco Open and also debuted for the Morocco Billie Jean King Cup team, while the team was competing in the Europe/Africa Zone Group III. Meanwhile, she continued playing college tennis for Florida International University, being named First Team All-CUSA for both singles and doubles and Best Singles Player of the CUSA Championship.
In 2023, Yasmine Kabbaj continued playing in the ITF Circuit to gain experience, winning the title at the $15,000 W15 Casablanca (Morocco) and reaching the semi-finals of the $25,000 W35 Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic), $25,000 W25 Punta Cana (Dominican Republic), and $15,000 W15 Kursumlijska Banja (Serbia). Meanwhile, after two seasons in Florida, she moved to San Diego State University.
In 2024, Yasmine Kabbaj started the season by reaching the semi-finals of the $15,000 W15 Fort-de-France (Martinique). During the season she made her singles WTA Tour main-draw debut at the WTA 250 Morocco Open, but lost in the first round. She was awarded was awarded Mountain West Player of the Week, while playing for the San Diego State University women’s tennis team and was one of the leaders in the team.
