Kenyan marathon runner Josephine Chepkoech has been suspended for an anti-doping violation. She tested positive for testosterone.
“The AIU has provisionally suspended Josephine Chepkoech (Kenya) for Presence (Testosterone Metabolites)/Use of a Prohibited Substance (Testosterone)”, the AIU confirmed.
This is part of the AIU’s crackdown on prohibited substances in athletics which has seen a rising number of Kenyan athletes penalized.
Josephine Chepkoech, 35, set a marathon personal best of 2:22:38 hours in Seville in February. She made her debut in the event in 2018 at the Nairobi Marathon, where she won the course with 2:33:11 hours.
Josephine Chepkoech’s provisional suspension means she cannot take part in any competitions until the final decision is made.
