American tennis player Madison Keys defeated her compatriot Alison Riske in the final of the WTA 250 Adelaide 2 women’s tournament with a prize fund of 239,477 USD.
Madison Keys won easily after beating Riske 6-1 and 6-2 for a little over an hour. She made four breakthroughs against none of his rivals and won 74% of the points on the second serve against significantly less than Riske, which proved decisive for the success.
Madison Keys has been ranked as high as world No 7 by the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA), which she first achieved in October 2016. She has played in one Grand Slam tournament final at the 2017 US Open, competed at the 2016 WTA Finals, and was a semifinalist at the 2016 Summer Olympics. She has won six WTA tournaments, five of which were at the Premier level, and she achieved her biggest title at the WTA 1000 2019 Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati, a Premier 5 event.
On Monday, Madison Keys will play versus Sofia Kenin at the first round of the Australian Open.
