Femke Bol is in perfect form just days before the World Athletics Championships in Glasgow. The Dutch athlete broke her own world record in the 400m indoor after winning her country’s national title in 49.24 sec. Last year, she set the previous world record precisely at the championship in Apeldoorn.
So far this season, the European record holder in the 400m hurdles had 49.63 sec in the 400m indoor from Lieven. Femke Bol now holds six of the twelve all-time bests in the indoor 400m.
Lieke Klaver finished second in this extraordinary final with a personal best of 50.10 sec. With this achievement, she ranked ninth in the all-time world indoor rankings.
“It’s a dream come true to set another world record and it’s great to have all these Dutch fans enjoying the most beautiful sport in the world”, shared Femke Bol after her run.
Femke Bol won two gold medals at the 2023 World Championships, was champion in the 2021, 2022, and 2023 Diamond League, and won a bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. She is also a four-time silver medalist at the world championships (outdoor and indoor), a seven-time gold medalist at the European championships (outdoor and indoor), and an nine-time medalist (five gold) at the Dutch championships (outdoor and indoor).
