Jelena Ostapenko (Latvia) won the women’s tennis tournament title at the WTA 500 Upper Austria Ladies Linz. In the final, top-seeded Latvian player defeated Ekaterina Alexandrova (Russia) by 2-0 (6:2, 6:3) in an hour and 10 minutes of play.
Jelena Ostapenko was totally dominant, converting three break points out of seven possible to claim her eighth WTA singles title.
The 29-year-old Ekaterina Alexandrova loses her second final in Linz, after losing to Camila Giorgi (italy) in the battle for the title in 2018.
Jelena Ostapenko has career-high WTA rankings of No 5 in singles, achieved on March 19, 2018. She won the 2017 French Open singles title, becoming the first player from Latvia to win a major singles tournament and the first unseeded player to win the French Open since 1933.
