World high jump champion Yaroslava Mahuchikh (Ukraine) opened the year with an impressive result. The Ukrainian topped the world rankings for the season after winning in Cottbus with 2.04m.
Yaroslava Mahuchikh started the competition with 1.90m, which she cleared on the first attempt. She then continued with successes in the first attempt at 1.94m and 1.98m. At 2.01m, the Ukrainian made it on the second attempt, and then also cleared 2.04m on the second attempt.
Thus, at the beginning of the year, the Ukrainian athlete showed that she will be the main favorite for the title of the World Indoor Championship in Glasgow from March 1 to 3.
Yaroslava Mahuchikh is a Ukrainian high jumper. She was the 2020 Summer Olympics bronze medalist, 2019 and 2022 World Championships silver medalist, 2023 World Championships gold medalist, and 2022 World Indoor Championships gold medalist. At the 2022 Brussels Diamond League, Yaroslava Mahuchikh jumped 2.05m, which is her outdoor personal best and a Ukrainian record. In 2021, she achieved her indoor personal best of 2.06m, which is also a national record.
