Rani Rosius

Rani Rosius is a Belgian track and field athlete, who competes in sprints. She is the European U23 Championships and European Team Championships silver medalist, as well as the Diamond League meeting winner.

Rani Rosius was born on April 25, 2000, in Genk, Belgium. She started in athletics at an early age and proved to be one of the biggest European talents in the sprints. At just 21 years of age, she tied the second-best Belgian time ever on the 100m event, with a time of 11.39. She is a multiple medalist and winner at the junior national championships.

Rani Rosius started her competitive career in 2016, running at the Herentals Belgian U18 Championships in 100m and 200m, but missed medals for a while. However, she showed great talent and skills. The same season she also competed in the 100m event at the Bruxelles Memorial Van Damm but finished 6th in the final.

In 2017, Rani Rosius won her first junior national medal at the Gent Belgian U18 Indoor Championships, winning the bronze in 60m. During the outdoor season, she won the bronze at the Mouscron Belgian U18 Championships in 100m. Meanwhile, she earned the 100m silver at the Bruxelles Memorial Van Damme and Brugge Meeting.

In 2018, Rani Rosius already proved herself as the Belgian athletics biggest talent in sprints and one of the biggest junior athletes. She won the 60m gold at the Gent Belgian U23/U20 Indoor Championships and also competed at the prestigious Gent IFAM Meeting. During the outdoor season, she won the 100m gold at the Liége Belgian University Championships, Heusden-Zolder Belgian Club Championships, and Mol Nacht van de Vriendschap, but also finished 4th at the Mouscron Belgian U20 Championships, missing the honor for a while. Meanwhile, she earned the 200m silver at the Heusden-Zolder Belgian Club Championships.

Rani Rosius made another strong season in 2019, debuting in the national championship and earning the 60m silver at the Belgian Indoor Championships. During the indoor season, she earned the 60m gold at the Belgian U23/U20 Indoor Championships and the 60m silver at the Gent Regional Indoor Championships, as well as the 200m silver at the Belgian U23/U20 Indoor Championships. During the outdoor season, Rani Rosius continued with her incredible performance and earned the 100m silver and 200m bronze at the Bruxelles Belgian Championships. Meanwhile, in the 100m event, she won the gold at the Heusden-Zolder Regional Championships, the silver at the Belgian U23/U20 Championships and Brussels Grand Prix, as well as the bronze at the Oordegem IFAM Meeting. She made great achievements also at the 4x100m relay, winning the gold at the Sandnes European Athletics Team Championships First League and competing at the Boras European U20 Championships.

In 2020, Rani Rosius earned the 60m silver at the Gent Belgian Indoor Championships, as well as 60m gold and 200m bronze at the Louvain-La-Neuve Belgian U23 Indoor Championships. During the outdoor season, she won 100m gold and 200m bronze at the Bruxelles Belgian Championships. In 100m, she earned the gold at the KBC Nacht van de Atletiek in Heusden-Zolder and finished 8th at the ISTAF Berlin, but her biggest success was winning the gold at the AG Memorial Van Damme in Bruxelles.

Rani Rosius started the 2021 season with big ambitions and covered more of her goals. During the indoor season, she won the 60m gold medals at the Louvain-La-Neuve Belgian Indoor Championships and IFAM Gent Indoor, before competing at the Torun European Athletics Indoor Championships, where she reached the semi-finals. During the outdoor season, Rani Rosius won the 100m gold and the 200m silver at the Bruxelles Belgian Championships. In the 100m event, she made a wonderful performance, earning the silver at the IFAM Meeting, Meeting International de la Province de Liege, KBC Nacht van de Atletiek, before making her biggest achievement, winning the silver at the Tallinn European Athletics U23 Championships. At the Cluj-Napoca European Athletics Team Championships First League she earned the silver medals at the 100m and 4x100m relay.

In 2022, Rani Rosius continued dominating the local national championships, winning the 60m gold at the Louvain-La-Neuve Belgian Indoor Championships and 100m gold and 200m bronze at the Gentbrugge Belgian Championships. Internationally, she competed at the Beograd World Athletics Indoor Championships in 60m, and the Munich European Athletics Championships in 100m and 4x100m, but missed the medals. Meanwhile, she earned the 100m silver at the Heusden-Zolder Night of Athletics.

In 2023, Rani Rosius finished 4th at the Istanbul European Athletics Indoor Championships in 60m and competed at the Budapest World Athletics Championships in 100m, but missed reaching the finals. Meanwhile, she won the 60m gold at the Gent Belgian Indoor Championships, as well as the 100m silver at the Chorzow European Athletics Team Championships First Division and ISTAF Berlin. In 100m she also triumphed with the gold at the Atletica Geneve – EAP, IFAM Oordegem, ALLIANZ Kampioenschap van Vlaanderen Alle Categorieen, and the bronze at the Kip Keino Classic in Nairobi, while in 4x100m relay earned the gold at the IFAM Oordegem.
