The Italians Charlene Guignard and Marco Fabbri defended their title in the dance pairs at the European Figure Skating Championships in Kaunas (Lithuania).
The Italians, who are also third in the continental championships in 2019 and 2022, as well as currently world vice-champions, performed a strong voluntary program and collected a total of 214.38 points. They won a second gold in a row at their 12th appearance at the European Championships, after last year they won Italy’s first title in the event since 2014.
Lilah Fear and Lewis Gibson (Great Britain) took second place with 210.82 points, and to the delight of the local audience, Lithuanian pair Allison Reed and Saulius Ambrulevičius took third place with 203.37 points.
Charlene Guignard and Marco Fabbri brought a second title for Italy from the championship, after Lucrezia Beccari and Matteo Guarise became champions in sports pairs.
On Sunday, the European Championship ends with the gala spectacle of the prize-winners. A total of 167 figure skaters from 32 countries are participating in the championship, and Lithuania is hosting this forum for the first time in history.
