Olympic champion Petra Vlhova (Slovakia) won the women’s alpine skiing World Cup slalom at Slovenia’s winter center Kranjska Gora. Petra Vlhova, 28, recorded a total time of 1:47.62 min. She was first after the first run in 51.30 seconds and maintained her lead after a solid second descent and a time of 56.32 sec.

For the Slovakian Alpine skier, this is the third victory of the season, the 31st in her World Cup career and the 22nd in this discipline.

Lena Duerr (Germany) remained in second place with a deficit of 0.72 sec. A J Hurt (USA) recorded the first podium in her career, finishing third, 0.87 sec behind the winner. She was fastest in the second run.

Last season’s World Cup winner Mikaela Shiffrin (USA) crashed out midway through the first run after having to settle for ninth in the giant slalom in Kranjska Gora a day earlier.

In the general standings for the World Cup, Mikaela Shiffrin continues to lead with 929 points, followed by Petra Vlhova with 722 points and Federica Brignone (Italy) with 697 points.

In the slalom discipline, Mikaela Shiffrin is again in the lead with 430 points, ahead of Petra Vlhova with 425 points and Lena Duerr with 350 points.

Petra Vlhova and Mikaela Shiffrin have each won three slaloms this season and have shared the last eight top spots in the event since Lena Duerr won in the Czech Republic in late January 2023.
