American skier Jessica Diggins won the second title of her career in the prestigious “Tour de Ski” circuit, part of the Cross-Country World Cup.
Jessie Diggins, who first triumphed in the race in 2021, placed sixth in the final mass start of the 10km freestyle, which was won by her teammate Sophia Laukli in 38:16.5 min. The American gave her all in the run and collapsed in utter exhaustion after crossing the line. She won the general classification by 31.6 sec ahead of Heidi Weng (Norway), who climbed from seventh to second, 17.1 sec behind Sophia Laukli, who recorded her first World Cup victory.
Kerttu Niskanen (Finland) is third overall with a pass of 39.7 sec and fourth on the day, behind Delphine Claudel (France).
World Cup leader Jessie Diggins triumphed in the Tour de Ski with one stage win and three more podiums. Heidi Weng reached the podium for the seventh time, after winning in 2017 and 2018 and was third in 2014-2016 and 2022.
Jessica Diggins remains on top for the World Cup with 1,402 points. Second for the Crystal Globe is Linn Svahn (Sweden) with 1,094 points, and third is Rosie Brennan (USA) with 1,071 points.
