British athlete Jade Ive

Jade Ive is a British track and field athlete, who competed in the pole vault. She is a two-time national indoor champion and holds the UK junior record outdoors. Her personal best is 4.50m, achieved in 2023 at the Chorzow European Athletics Team Championships First Division.

Jade Ive was born on January 22, 1992, in London, England. She started initially in gymnastics and reached the elite level in her development before concentrating on athletics. She twice improved the UK age 15 best in 2007 and in 2008 also improved the U17 record.

Jade Ive started her competitive career in 2007, winning the gold at the London SEAA U17 Indoor Championships. During the season she also earned gold at the Carshalton U18 Indoor Open Meeting, London SEAA Junior Championships, Bromley National Junior League, and Sheffield AAA U17 Championships, as well as silver at the Bedford AAA Junior Championships and Birmingham UK Athletics Jumps Festival.

In 2008, Jade Ive continued improving her results and making great achievements in athletics and pole vault. She earned the gold at the London GBR vs NED Jumps International, London Regional Championships, and Bedford AAA Junior Championships, and the silver at the Loughborough International Match. In July 2008, she competed at the Bydgoszcz IAAF World Junior Championships, but failed to overcome the qualifications and did not reach the finals. However, in October, she made a great achievement by winning the gold at the Pune Commonwealth Youth Games, setting her personal best of 4.05m.

Jade Ive paused athletics for a few years and returned to elite gymnastics. In 2011, she again returned on the track and field, but the transition was slow as she already lost her form and impetus. She won the pole vault gold at the Carshalton Surrey County Indoor Championships, Swansea UK Women’s League, and Ashford South of England Championships. She competed at the Birmingham UK Championships, but finished only 9th.

In 2012, Jade Ive won the gold at the Bedford International Games, Kingston Surrey County Championships, and Hendon BAL Super8 Cup, but also finished 6th at the Birmingham UK Championships.

In 2013, Jade Ive started the season by winning the gold at the Carshalton Pole Vault Meeting, but again missed the medals at the Sheffield UK Indoor Championships, finishing 6th. By the end of the year, she won the gold at the Kingston Surrey County Championships and the silver at the Bedford England U23 Championships and Watford South of England Championships.

Jade Ive won her first national medal in 2015, earning the bronze at the Birmingham UK Championships. Meanwhile, during the season she won the gold at the Bedford CAU Inter-County Championships and the silver at the Lee Valley South of England Championships.

In 2016, Jade Ive earned the bronze at the Birmingham UK Championships and the silver at the Sheffield British Indoor Championships. At the end of the season, she won the gold and improved her personal best to 4.13m at the Carshalton Pole Vault Meeting. Meanwhile, she triumphed with the gold at the Cardiff Pole Vault Meet, Carshalton Surrey County Championships, Lee Valley South of England Championships, and Bedford CAU Inter County Championships.

In 2017, Jade Ive won the national title at the Sheffield British Indoor Championships with 4.35m and later even improved her personal best to 4.36m at Carshalton Meeting. She debuted at the prestigious Birmingham Muller Indoor Grand Prix, finishing 8th. Jade Ive had a great season, also winning the gold at the Lee Valley South of England Indoor Championships and Bromley UK Women’s League, as well as the silver at the Bedford CAU Inter County Championships and Southampton Pole Vault Invitational.

British pole vaulter continued with her good performance in 2018 but failed to improve her personal best results. Jade Ive earned the pole vault silver at the Birmingham UK Indoor Championship, but at the Birmingham British Championships failed to earn a medal, finishing only 6th. Meanwhile, during the season she won the gold at the Lee Valley London Games and Bedford South of England Championships, as well as the silver at the Manchester CAU Inter-County Championships and the bronze at the Gateshead Great North City Games.

In 2019, Jade Ive won another silver at the Birmingham UK Indoor Championships but also won the gold at the London Games, London Inter Club Challenge, Lewes AC Invitation Pole Vault, and Jim Day Memorial Pole Vault Open. However, she again failed to win a medal at the IAAF World Indoor Tour’s Birmingham Muller Indoor Grand Prix and Birmingham British Championships.

Jade Ive missed the 2020 season, which is shorter due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, when she returned to competitive athletics in 2021, she won the gold at the National Athletics League Premier London North and South of England U20/Senior Championships. She failed to win medals at national championships, finishing 4th at the Manchester British Championships. By the end of the season, she won the silver medals at the Bedford England Athletics Senior Championship and Loughborough Clayton Invitational.

In 2022, Jade Ive won the pole vault silver at the Birmingham UK Indoor Championships with a new personal best of 4.40m. Later in the season, she won the bronze at the Birmingham Muller UK Athletics Championships, as well as the silver at the Bedford England Athletics Senior Championships.

Jade Ive won her second national title in 2023, triumphing with the gold at the Birmingham UK Indoor Championships. During the season she improved her personal best to 4.50m at the Chorzow European Athletics Team Championships First Division, where earned the silver. Meanwhile, she competed at the Birmingham World Indoor Tour Final 2023 and UK Athletics Championships Manchester but missed the medals.
