Renata Zarazua (Mexico) won the title at the WTA 125 Montevideo Open after defeating Diane Parry (France) by 2-1 (7:5, 3:6, 6:4) in a match that lasted 2:47 hours.
The match started equally with both players winning their serve games in the beginning. Renata Zarazua was the first to break her opponent for 3:2, but Diane Parry returned immediately the break and equalized for 3:3. The French player overturned the score to 5:3 and served for the set, but her Mexican opponent succeeded in returning the break immediately and was unstoppable by the end of the set to win three more games in a row to close the set at 7:5.
The second set started with the exchange of breaks after which Renata Zarazua took a lead by 3:1. However, Diane Parry equalized to 3:3 after returning the break and since then she made three more games in a row to win the set by 6:3 and equalize the score.
The third decisive game was again quite contested and full of overturns. Diane Parry took a lead by 3:1, but Renata Zarazua equalized to 3:3 and the set was running equal until the tenth game in the set, when the Mexican player broke again and won the match.
This is the first WTA title for Renata Zarazua, who has one final only at the WTA 125 Thoreau Tennis Open in 2021.
