Simona Halep WTA

Former WTA No 1, Simona Halep, won hard against Swiss tennis player Viktorija Golubic by 2-1 (6:2, 5:7, 6:4) and qualified for the semifinals of the WTA 250 Melbourne Summer Set I, which warmed up before the Australian Open.

The Romanian seems to have control over the match after easily winning the first set with 6:2, but then met serious resistance from the Swiss, who managed to take the second part with 7:5.

Simona Halep had problems with the first serve in the third set and even lost her temper, breaking his racket before making a break for 5:4, after which he ended the match with 6:4.

“The service didn’t work for me”, said Simona Halep. “I have to admit that it was very difficult for me – It was difficult for me to control my emotions, but she put me in this situation, she pressed me. I didn’t believe I could win this match, but I fought to the last and I’m proud of it. Viktorija Golubic played amazingly, she fought to the end, she is responsible for this beautiful match. I’m really happy that I was a little better in the end. Winning this match means a lot to me”, added the Romanian tennis player.

In the semi-finals, the Romanian will meet the Chinese qualifier Qinwen Zheng, who won her quarterfinal match versus the Croatian Ana Konjuh with 2-0 (7:6, 7:6).

In the other semi-final, the top-seeded Naomi Osaka will face third-seeded Russian player Veronika Kudermetova.
